Re: The Official HDR Photo Thread
Lon, those pics would be better w/o the PHOTOMATIX labeling...
With that said, if anyone wants the full version of photomatix. send me a msg on AIM @ Vdubber1389. Sorry, do not PM me on SCE.

i believe a real HDR would do about 3 diff exposures and combines to make one picture.. and using photomatix edits one picture to mimic an HDR image. that's what i think at least.

There's a couple of How Tos at the top, but a brief answer is Yes. You have to take three differently exposed pictures or you don't get enough pictures data to combine them.
My only question would be for RAW files since you can change so much about the picture. Although RAW files are about 7MBs compared to the stander 1.5MB jpeg.

Re: The Official HDR Photo Thread
I hate to say it...
But I'm probably really going to hate this thread.
Not to knock on the thread, but there's just way too many wrong assumptions of what HDR really is. >_<
If you have what's supposed to be shadows, and they're brighter than the rest of the image, they're NOT HDR!
If you have halo's of light around high contrast edges, they're NOT HDR!
These are the two things I really dislike about so called "HDR" images.
And if you want to get technical, any JPG is not going to be true HDR. How do you get High Dynamic Range in a compressed image format?
Sorry I kinda get sick of all the images on the net that claim to be HDR, but please do keep trying and looking into HDR images. Once you've gotten the grasp of what HDR images are all about, you can make some amazing photos!

Re: The Official HDR Photo Thread
Then instead of hating what people think HDR is why not inform them of what HDR really is? You seem to know a bit about it, why not share? I mean that's how others learn.
I'm not much of a photographer, but I do enjoy looking at nice photos.

Re: The Official HDR Photo Thread
I've posted this link up numerous times in different threads. Here it is again.
http://projects.ict.usc.edu/graphics...ges/intro.html
Dont mind what it says about HDR Shop, its a program used for the CG industry. But the link does have a good explanation of what HDR really is.
HDR should really be comprised of at least 7 different exposure levels.
Think about it, our eyes see in HDR. So called "HDR shots" look nothing like what we see in real life.
