    Re: racing harness??

it really depends on what you intend on doing with the car as far as which to use.

How to mount it? Use the rear seatbelt bolt locations. Remove the seat bottom, install and reinstall the seat bottom.

So? Why are you installing a harness?

why not c-pillar location using the base to mount the other points? if you're using a 3 point harness?

do some research on safety in regards to using a racing harness. Its not as cut and dry as one might think.

    fixed for ya Shawn

and yeah...+1 on doing some research...in these newfangled modern cars, with their multitude of safety restraint systems designed and tested thoroughly, it's hard to justify putting something in the mix that isn't integrated with your airbags and restraint systems...you may be doing more potential harm to yourself by adding them. Also...now correct me if I'm wrong here Shawn (who is an experienced racer AND crasher!), but harnesses aren't there to keep you in your seat so that you can corner harder...they're there to keep you inside the car in the event of a crash.

The only reason I have one in my Mk1, is because there isn't a single airbag anywhere, most notably...my steeringwheel is missing one...and in the event of a crash, I want there to be minimal chances of my pretty face meeting with Mr. Momo. I use a Schroth 4 point bolted to the floor....USING NEW HARDWARE (that's kindof key...)

    Re: racing harness??

i know they are a safety thing but i do think they would help on the cornering keeping me more centered NO???

    Re: racing harness??

basically whats being said here, is that unless you're on the track, if you are unable to remain in your seat with your stock seatbelt, you're probably driving at the limit of safety and endangering yourself and those around you.

    Re: racing harness??

there's a way to keep yourself locked into your seat without a racing harness....recline your seat back and pull on the belt so that it locks and adjust your seat accordingly. i think shawn suggested this back in the dubwars video of 04?

    Re: racing harness??

    harness + airbag = bad
harness - roll cage = bad
harness + roll cage - helmet = bad
harness + mounting it too low = bad

    see how this gets complicated?
My signature was so old it broke all the rules :drama:

wow...you've just identified yourself as officially "dangerous"

assuming you are the only one on the road, EVER, shows a pretty large lack of maturity/reasoning skills on your part.

Slapshot, he's not concerned with reading about safety or listening to the facts, he just wants to look "fast"...so lets let him...he's gonna do what he's gonna do...regardless of if it gets him laughed at or ridiculed, or even killed in a crash he might have otherwise survived if he hadn't installed a non-integrated, passive restraint component.
