    SPOTTED: Genesis sedan

As I was leaving to go to work, I noticed this parked 3 cars away.. It honestly didn't look too bad in person. I really liked the dashboard, it looked much more upscale than a Hyundai.

Does anybody have any request shots for me? If it is still parked there I will take some more pics when I get home.

Nice pics man. There was a time when people laughed about Toyotas, Hondas, and especially VWs. I think this car is going to shut all the Hyundai naysayers up, and make them realize that they are the brand to beat.

Nope... just checked the specs. V6 at 290hp before it's 15% loss.

    Better check again...

Hyundai's newest model is based on all-new rear wheel drive architecture and is expected to have the capabilities and features comparable to $60,000 premium sedans at a starting price under $30,000. Hyundai's new "premium sports sedan" will be offered with three engine choices, 3.3L V6 (268HP), 3.8L V6 (290HP) and an all-new 4.6L Tau V8 that puts out an estimated 368 horsepower. The V8 is mated to a six-speed Shiftronic transmission and is capable of reaching 0-60mph in under six seconds. Hyundai has pointed out that the Tau V8 puts out more horsepower and torque than the Lexus GS450, BMW 750i, Audi A8 and Infiniti M45.

I did... got it from www.hyundaigenesis.com I'm comparing the V6...Since the B5 S4 that we were comparing to, is in fact a V6.

yes, but you may forget, v6 290hp (genesis estate) model is to a4 as v8 340hp model is to s4 (only fair when comapring), not the coupe as that has a bi-turbo 3.5 v6 producing lil over 300... kinda funny as the two engines are the same size as the current s-197 line, cant wait to see what they produce after they make their turbos standard.

heres a pic of the specs, straight from their site... sad thing though its only got a slush box >.<

oh and its got a better weight bias...

I love how people still compare my car, which is a 2001. To a 2009 model 8 years into the future. Shows how we hold our value and respect as B5 S4 owners.

In fact, to be precise in comparison. You'd be comparing the 2009 b7-8 S4 and not mine. So my comparison is fair.

    Re: SPOTTED: Genesis sedan

I was thinking the same thing. S4 as top of the standard line A4 (not counting rs4).
The Hyundai Tau V8 as the top of the Genesis line.

This doesn't even take into consideration the cost and size difference...or warranty...or...

Don't let Hyundai's less than stellar past taint your view of their new vehicles.
If we did that we'd still think that Audi's still have a problem with stuck accelerators...

Hyundai has come a long way in a very short time and I don't doubt that they will
eventually be able to compete in the same league as other asian and euro luxe brands.

I'm sorry, it's just that all this hype has been brought out before on past Hyundai cars. For instance, the V6 GT TIBURON. A pile of junk. I'll be skeptical about this company for years and years to come.

    How about my S4?

    It's like this, it's still a Hyundai.
Want an example? A Volvo is a pretty sweet car, right? Especially the brand new models. it can be compared to Audi and BMW, per say.

But will it ever be looked at like people see BMWs or Audis?
Even Audis for the common concensus aren't what a BMW is.

In the end, it is just a Hyundai. Just like an NSX (while an awesome car) is still a Honda.

The same can be said about the Corvette C6 Z06. While it can romp on Rarris and Lambos all day long, it's still a Chevy, not a Lambo.

i know i know, i was just using your car as an example. but i just cat wait till the blokes over at either top or fifth gear toss it around and compare it to 3's and ar/s5's as hyundai is already coparing it to 5 series and E classessszz not lexuseszzz or cadiesszzz

    Re: SPOTTED: Genesis sedan

for the $$ that car looks pretty nice
consider hyundai's warranty ... that will be a wicked car IMHO

maybe its not an S4 but its not in the same class

its more of a Camry, Accord, Taurus competition, which are all not "sport" luxury cars. They are more like family midsize without sport, just some entry level luxury features

For around $30k, sounds like its going to be a hit

ive been seeing more and more hyundai's around

and to be honest, the average person nowadays are turning out more practical

my gf could care less about my M5, or Audi or all the cars out there, as long as it gets her from point A to B within reasonable comfort and safety

ive noticed a lot more hyundai's being bought and they are great cars for the $$ and features ... great value ... just wish some of the European cars could get with the program in regards to $$ to value ratio

not knocking, cuz id still never buy it for myself

a most definite truth ole wise one, but on a side note the current camry and accord are now considered full size cars by epa standards putting them in the same segment (albeit not lux) as a 5 series.

someone should make a pettition to import ladas or seats ^^. gm atleast has the right idea as bring over opels as saturns, just swap out the front end and bam you got an afforadable semi-authentic euro, hell i want a suzuki swift
