Re: So look at what came in the mail today!!!!!

Installing a GIAC chip in a MK3 is very easy. I picked one up for my old 1997 12V VR6. GIAC claims an increase of 7-10hp & 10-12 ft-lbs. It removes the speedlimiter as well as raises the redline.

In total, it took me about 45 minutes to install the chip, but I was taking pictures at the same time. The toughest part was getting the damn rain tray cover off! Those damn plastic screws/grommets are a bitch!

    Outer chip case

    Outer and innner chip case

    Rain tray

    Stubborn ass plastic screw/grommet!

    ECU location

    ECU wiring harness

    ECU removed

    ECU disassembled

    ECU "board"

Stock chip (indicated by the "5889" sticker)

Stock chip (left) and GIAC chip (right) ***NOTICE THE HOW THE "NOTCH" ON THE TOP LEFT OF THE CHIP ALIGNS WITH THE "ARROW" ON THE SOCKET***

Removing the stock chip with a "chip puller"

    Stock chip removed

    GIAC chip installed

I honestly thought it was going to be much more difficult to do. The only "special tool" required was the chip puller. You can pick one up for about $6 at your local computer geek store

Re: So look at what came in the mail today!!!!!

they are JOM, they say they are the same as vmaxx. I did some research and got a sick deal. Everyone who own some said they are the best coils for the buck and definatly recommend them to people with a low amount of cash. Here in US they sell for like 500.00 buck +shipping. I got them from the UK through Ebay and payed 310.00 shipped. It only took like a week to get here if that, and it has a 2 yr warranty but its in german.

I actually used a fork to gently pry the top of the grommet up, while unscrewing it. Once you remove one, you'll see how the bloody thing is designed and the rest should be much easier.
