Any salvage yards around SD for old air-cooled beetles? I need to find the metal bar that bolts from side to side and supports the front lip of the rear seat.

If you have to sit on a stack of pillows to see over the dash, you shouldn't be driving.

Post up a WTB ad in the classifieds on the samba. There aren't any left in socal that I know of anymore.
2012 Cooper S hard top Lightning blue/Black roof"As I walk through the valley of death I fear no one, for I am the meanest motherf****r in the valley" - George S. Patton
2009 328i sport coupe, M3 steering wheel, DCT paddles, Magnaflow exhaust.
Just talked to some guys that build baja bugs - They usually pull the rear seats and say they are going to dig one up and call me back.

No The seat is fine. Thanks again. You rock & your mom was a "hoot" to talk to while I waited for you.
There is a metal bar that bolts to each side of the shell on the inside that supports the front lip of the seat and holds the kick panels in place. That and some bolts are the only thing I am missing now - a guy I met recently at the car wash has one for me - just have to drive over to El Cajon one day next week and buy him a coffee.
Are you building the engine for your bug or just ordering one?

There is a salvage yard up in Lake Elsinore. I have not been to it but it has a ton of VW aircooled parts.

If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea....does that mean that one out of five enjoys it?
I would definitely prefer to build it. I was actually leaning toward this setup since I spoke with you.
Everything is being built around the idea of the 1776 or the 1915 with their turbo and FI. I only want to do this once and do it right.

I found a shop that will blast the pan and body, rhino line the pan and primer the body and fix what minor rust i've seen (Battery tray) for a grand. So that's the next thing on the list. Getting the grand, lol.

Cool - I am anxious to see how it comes out. I like it when I get to see them in pieces before they are driving and profiling...
I seem to remember your mom saying something about her driving it to work when it was done and your younger brother using it as a first car. If that is the case, sure about a 1915 turbo?

The name of the place is Interstate Vw.
Last time I looked they do not have a website, but if you look at yellowpages.com. You will find them.
Their address is on Collier ave (or maybe Street). But I know the street name is Collier.
The guy who runs the place is super cool. He let me walk around his yard while he removed a fender from a MkII Jetta for me. He had a Euro 56 bug shell (Right hand drive with complete Semaphores) that he absolutely refused to sell.
Very cool guy despite that.
