    Any balisong collectors?

Just ordered a Custom Armand Palacio Balisong for my EDC. They are handmade by Armand Palacio himself based in Balisong Batangas, Philippines. One of the only true FHM (Filipino Handmade) Balisong makers left.

I should have it by early/mid December. 24cm (9.44") overall, latched.

Pretty much this knife, just 2cm longer with a latch and a more swooped tip blade... Pics will come in a few weeks.

Ordering CA illegal stuff is nice lol. However, these can be shipped to CA.

Very nice. I own a couple, but am not a serious collector. Also own a couple of real katanas (actual tempered combat ready, not ebay/mall junk) from my kendo days.

How much did it set you back Rento?

I don't know any particulars here in San Diego, but try any higher end kendo equipment supply houses, also google a good sword maker and you will find some places that carry them. Mine are "Musashi"

    It was $275, free shipping.

As for Musashi... Sooo lucky, I almost bought one of those earlier last year, but decided to stick with Cheness. I however ended up not getting either... I will one day. I have a fascination with blades. Mainly Balisongs, Katanas, and Automatic folders and OTFs.

Actually kendo would be a good for you dude, besides exercise it did wonders for my mind at rough time. Go to some classes at a real federation sanctioned kendo dojo - most won't make you buy armor and gear until you do some beginner's classes and they see if you are going to stick with it (and chicks dig watching you practice and spar after you learn some )

(try to find one with some old timers, I learned so much from the "old country" guys in their 60's and 70's once they got over the fact I was white)

I wish, I don't have a job right now... Buying a nice Katana let alone classes would be nearly impossible... And than juggle with a job and school.

Ok, ok, but you don't need a katana for a while, you use shinai which are super cheap - you don't really need a real katana until you start Iaido

    Very true!

Right before I moved out here to AZ, I been thinking of looking back into Martial Arts... Even though I hate to be soaked in sweat.

Those shinais hurt like a mother... But I always whooped all my buddies at it xD.

I want to learn Pikiti Tersia with the Balisong or someother Filipino Martial art. Learning Kendo as a secondary would be fun!!! Maybe one day... One day...

    Re: Any balisong collectors?

Ordered another Balisong, Benchmade 32 Morpho with a Krein Regrind, sharp as a scalpel. Also, my Armand Palacio Custom was actually the wrong order (I wanted a latch on my handles), so I have a Tanto bladed custom out on the way with latched handles.

Pic of the BM32 Morpho and the replacement Tanto Pandayan before shipping out:

You can't really say one knife is better than another when it comes to the blade's style...

Also there's different types of switch blades... Automatic Out the side (OTS), Automatic Out the front (OTF), than double action automatics which are OTFs that have a switch to both open and retract.

A Balisong vs a switchblade is kinda of null... I mean both can be use as impacts very well, and both can be drawn very fast, the switchblade being the fastest.

I want a double action OTF, however i'm set on balisongs as sliding a button up and down is no where near as fun as tossing a knife around and flipping it doing various combos and tricks.
