    Cars with the VR6 engine?

So Im thinking about selling my car and upgrading to something newer and with less miles. I really want another VR6 and Im looking into what cars come with the VR engine. I read somewhere that VW/Audi has discontinued it in the newer models but Im not sure if thats true. Anyways what cars out there come with the VR6? I know Mk4 GTI and Jetta, Mk4 and Mk5 R32, mk1 TT, what else on either VW or Audi? Im thinking about going with a Mk5 R32.

I really love my car but I think its time. Here she is

    mk4 .:R32 > mk5 .:R32. There were passats with a 3.6 IIRC and also older passats with a 30v 6 cylinder. I would go for a 24v gti or a mk4 r32 if I was going to buy a vr6 again.

you looking for cars with a VR6 or just a six cylinder? Pretty sure they are not the same.

VR6 is just a 6 cylinder engine with a different piston arrangement. It pushes them closer together almost inline. It simplifies and compacts the engine for transverse mounted cars.. instead of having 2 cylinder heads on a V6 it has 1 like an Inline Six

the mk5 r32 does not have much upgraded power from the mk4, only comes with dsg, and is much heavier than the mk4. I dont really know much about the audi, I think u can get a a4 in a 3.2?

yeah i know it doesnt have much power upgrade but i already have a car that looks like the mk4 R32 and a mk5 would be a big difference it looks much nicer both in the exterior and interior and like you said it comes with DSG.. oh and it comes in white!

i dont know about an A4 but I just saw that the mk2 TT also has the 3.2 but thats a bit out of my price range. if only they sold the A3 two door hatchback instead of the wagon then thats what i would go for.

    The A3 was available with a 3.2 VR6 and quattro. Basically a 4 door MKV R32.

The Mk5 R32 actually makes less power than the mk4 R32. Lower compression ratio (10.5:1 vs 11.3:1), less aggressive cam timing. VW marketed the Mk4 motor as 239hp, 240hp, or 241hp depending on the time of year they sold the thing - but it actually made an honest 250hp. Mine dynoed 214awhp bone stock.

The Mk5 R32 dynoed in the 190awhp range stock. Considerable power difference.

BUT in its favor the Mk5 R32 outhandles the Mk4, hands down. Stiffer chassis and much improved rear suspension geometry, along with better Haldex AWD system. Around Streets of Willow a bone stock Mk5 R32 easily turns better times than a modded Mk4 R32, and that's all due to handling.

I don't know allot about vw, but if you can put a vr6 in an audi and take the front axles off, idk
how the awd of an audi is, that would be the vw choice for me.

how would the car be able to move without the front axels. and a vr6 swap is alot of work to do into a a4, plus why would you want to put a vr6 in there when people are swapping in 4.2L v8s and probably twin turboing them by now.

Re: Cars with the VR6 engine?

Because this thread is about vr6. Hopefully the rear wheels would
move the car unless it's backwards and it has more of a front wheel drive tranny.

because a little 4.2 v8 with twin turbo (that people probably do?) is ghey.
Single turbo vr6 is cheaper and will put down more then enough
    power on a fwd.

Re: Cars with the VR6 engine?

i was saying its what they prob do because i know seina on audizine did a 4.2L a8 swap and was working on a twin turbo when i stopped following the thread. And price range i belive they would be the same due to the 4.2. but ya i was just throwing the idea out there not meaning to thread jack. and the quattro system is 66% rear 33% front if i rememeber correctly.
