    M103 R&R: Head gasket, timing chain rails, intake manifold

    went crazy with a head gasket repair job on the 190E. here are some clean pictures.

    Engine disassembled




    Cylinder head. 2 angle valve job, new intake/exhaust valve guides, new valve stem seals, hot tank, bead blast, resurface, reassemble.




    New head gasket



    Head seated on block



    New timing chain guide and tensioner rails



    Front timing cover hot tanked and bead blasted and resealed, installed





    alternator bracket hot tanked and bead blasted




    torquing down the cylinder head




    sealing top timing cover and cam seal










    valve cover bead blasted and powder coated

    lemme know if you wanna make some extra cash. from the pics it would appear your detail oriented with your work. My M104 needs a head gasket + wiring harness job.

    motor seems happy too. before the job, compression tests were reading about 165psi across cyl 1 - 3, and then gradually degraded down to 125psi in cyl 6.

    now compression readings are 180 psi across cyl 2 3 4 5, 1 and 6 read 175psi.

    hell yeah. that tq wrench was worth the buy. very good tool to have, especially for very important high tq stuff. it has served me well with axle nuts, front crank bolt, cyl head bolts.

    Man, I am starting to miss the simplicity of my m103 300e! Looking at your engine bay starts to give me a better appreciation of what these cars looked like new.
