    Schroth Racing Harness

So the interior on my MK IV GTi is still stock and I wanted to get a little extra control and I was looking at the CG locks and other alternatives until I get a Roll Cage. I just ordered one of these: http://www.schrothracing.com/store/T...fit/qf-vw-audi

From what I read is the best alternative to a full 5 point harness and Roll Cage. Has anyone else had experience with these? I am hoping it will allow me to put a little less pressure on the steering wheel and less need to stabilize myself with my legs. When I take a spirited trip up Palomar that is almost always my complaint about cornering. This is temporary of course but I have a feeling I will at least get a CG-Lock for the passenger as I know they will be flinging back and forth as well. Let me know what you guys think of them.

In order for it to be properly mounted, you typically have a roll bar to mount the shoulder belts to. In lieu of a roll bar, most people will simply bolt them to the stock rear seat belts locations which can, in an accident, hurt you more than the accident itself.

Someone makes a harness bar for the car. I dont remember any details on it but Google is yer friend!

Here is a graphic of the setup in a GTi. Found on Autotech's website.

I will definitely look for the bar though.

Thats how you install it if you really want a spinal cord compression injury.

Im with Mike. Get the CG lock, or put a roll bar in it.
Then if you put a roll bar in it, you need a race seat. (you dont want a stock seat collapsing back into the roll bar.)

Its a different world from a factory safety system to a racing safety system. Theyre not really interchangable. For your needs, the CG lock works.

Yeah, that method of attaching the belts in that graphic is a horrible idea. In an accident, you're going to compress your spine which isn't good. Personally I'd simply use one of those locks that tighten your stock belt, instead of one of these 4-points.
