shameless promotion of Big Bear
As many of you know, we have our dog Bear in training to work in Hollywood. He has completed the first 2 rounds of training, and tomorrow, he starts the third and final level. He is now eligible to start working. Although it is unlikely that he will land the starring role in Predator 3, he could very likely pose for a magazine ad, or do a commercial for dog food or any number of other things.
So as any responsible parent would do, we're pimping him out. We've set up a Facebook page to keep his fans updated on what Bear is up to. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Big...37023273025638 If you would like to know what Bear is up to, I believe that you just have to click "like" and you will get updates as we update his page.
You can also see his profile on www.hollywoodpaws.com. Just click "search dog actors." He is on the first page. He hasn't had gigs of any kind yet. He was considered for a Sealy matress ad, but they took another dog. Bear should soon be adding therapy dog certification to his credentials list.

Re: shameless promotion of Big Bear
Don't think so. I think I've only ever seen you once at a Fusion meet years ago but you were in your Avant just driving by/ through. I'm not a huge doggie fan, (IMO kittehs > doggies) but somehow the SCE dog community melts me heart!

Re: shameless promotion of Big Bear
Bear had his first job last weekend! He posed as the family pet for a model family (a family of models) for a birth control ad. I'm not sure where the pictures will show up, but women's magazines are a likely guess. He had to play with the kids and sit/lie there while they pet him. Then they had him playing with a tennis ball and walking on leash. It was a lot of fun to watch, and hopefully it gets his face out there for more work. I took a bunch of pictures from the shoot. Let me see if it's appropriate to post those pictures. It should be ok. They were just pictures of them taking pictures.
I also took this the other day. I've seen other dogs and polar bears do the thing where they rub their faces in the snow. I'm not sure why they do it, but they look rediculous doing it.

Re: shameless promotion of Big Bear
Hahaha, he's cute!
Couple questions:
1. Where did you do Bear's training? Both standard training, and the "Hollywood" training?
2. Where is this video filmed in Big Bear?
We have a new puppy who is stunningly brilliant, and I am considering taking many paths for her future

Re: shameless promotion of Big Bear
For his basic obedience, we pretty much did it ourselves. We just took everything we did with our Bichon, and did the opposite with Bear.
For the other training, we went to Hollywood Paws. They're a training academy and agency up in L.A. We took Bear up for a "try-out" where they determined that Bear has the look, the food motivation and the trainability to work on-set. Go to www.hollywoodpaws.com for contact info. Leave a message and they'll call you back to set up an appointment for a try-out.
The video was from Tahoe. (this should be its own thread)
We stayed at a place called Fireside Lodge, in South Tahoe. It is the most dog friendly hotel anywhere. Dogs are not only allowed in the rooms (and allowed to be left unattended) but they are allowed in the lodge, game room, office, kitchen and spa area. The owners even provide potty bags, treats and towels to clean your dogs feet. Their own dog wanders around the property and visits people as they come and go. The lodge sits on the bike path, and opens up to about 10 acres of woods. It ended up making for a really nice place to walk the dogs off-leash. The hotel has a fire pit and they supply S'more materials every night. They have make your own waffles every morning.
I can't even get into all the little details they put into this place. http://www.tahoefiresidelodge.com/
Details like: each room has a sign that you hang on the door to let the owners know that their dog is in your room for a visit.
