BMW Dealer Fired After Videotaped Joyride in new M1 Coupe.

I saw this a few weeks ago and thought "How stupid of those guys to record that... and post it online".
The video shows a new 1 Series M coupe, with a sales sticker on the window, speeding through residential streets.

There were some other vids a while back some bmw dealer guy taking a custemers m3 out on the freeway and
just racing it out the street. It was taken down after somebody posted it on bimmerforums.

So put a cam in your car when you drop it off at the dealers.
If you have a bmw anyway.

I'm pretty sure even people that don't own BMWs wouldn't appreciate their cars being driven like that you elitist prick.

As far as I'm concerned I don't think management did anything wrong. If you're going to do something wrong (read: illegal) why the hell would you record it? The stupidity doesn't stop there though, then you go and host it on YouTube? That's just asking for trouble! If he/they have been doing it for a while now I'm surprised they haven't been caught before. At least they got caught before anyone could get hurt/ car(s) were totalled.

I wonder if the owner of the Bimmer is going to ask them to replace it because of possible damage or file suit?

Get it crushed and produce a new one.

If not possible then donate it.

Why would you want to keep a car thats been redlined before 10 miles..

No no I'm just saying if you have a fast car, not just a bmw. Like Mercedes or Porsche.

I don't think they're going to go want to see what a gti, passate, or mini can do on the freeway/around town.

These guys got fired, and rightly so. Not so much for driving the piss out of a car, but for doing it to a new car, a 1M, and in a residential neighborhood, and putting it on the internet. They actually got fired within the hour of the service manager seeing the video. The CEO of BMW NA made a visit to the dealer too. It was a VERY big deal. Whether or not they know it, they are also blackballed from working at any BMW dealer again, so they are fucked.

Most high end German cars motors are dynotested and the car broken in on the road before they are ever shipped from factory. Common procedure to reset the odometer before it's shipped, at some factories. At others, they leave the "testing" miles on the clock. Have seen brand new Porsche's arrive with 80-90 miles on them, brand new. My R32 had 44 miles on it straight from Osnabruck. Motor already broken in.

Besides, there are motor builders who subscribe to the break-in theory that you *should* redline it and drive the snot out of it from mile one, as a better way for rings to seat than just with low stress driving. Ferrari for example.

As for test driving - how many here have never test driven a car without flooring it and seeing what it will do? That's part of the test drive experience. I certainly see nothing wrong in an employee knowing the capabilities of a car he's selling.

Not that any of that excuses this douchebag driving like this on residential streets with kids around. That's just asinine.

I don't buy that "no break in period". Porsche was the only manufacturer to say there was no break in. We (BMW) put the sticker in the windows of M cars, and they have a 1200 mile service for engine, trans and diff fluids. Most all running in instruction can be found in the owners manual. E39 M5 was the perfect example. Evey single car that the owner beat on from day one would drink a quart of oil every 400 miles, or less.
