If you need some links let me know and I'll recommend some choices.

For a street car/DD, totally disagree.

Re: Coilovers? best type or brand...
coil overs are for racing, or for douches that don't get that and just want to lower their car as far as they will go. All you need is a H&R cup kit, or springs and inserts. Swaybar in german means crutch for a bad suspension. If you do them, great, but do them in pairs or your car can have some bad side effects. As far as size, not sure what you should run, but you need to make a decision on what you are going to do most with the car. I have driven cars on monoballs with remote reservoir coil overs and adjustable sways on the street, noisy and not fun. Even in twisty roads. They are great running 9/10ths on a smooth track surface, but after a while on the street, you will hate life if its your daily. Tires are most important. To get the most handling wise out of your car, light wheels and good tires will make a world of difference. Years ago I kept 15" OZ's on my MK3, with ES100's, since they were a great street tire that handled well and was predictable.

Re: Coilovers? best type or brand...
I had H&R race springs will bilstein sport shocks/struts and loved them on my mk 4. firm enough to go tear up mountain roads but still comfortable enough for a daily driver. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same thing. I never put sway bars on either, and the car handled perfectly for what I needed it for.

Re: Coilovers? best type or brand...
I have the same set up- H&R race with bilstein sport on my mkIV and I agree with Joe18tbo112. If you don't need the coilovers, you may not want to spend the extra $$. I use my mkIV as my utility ride, snowboarding, camping, long road trips, etc.. and it rides great. And I can still put snow cables on if I need too and when I take it up into the mtns, it handles well + I can take it off road without too much concern.

PSS9 and PSS Does not offer a good drop with mk4s. mines were all the way down and still about 1" of wheel gap. You better off getting something that gives more of a drop. At least the option to do so..
They ride great though.
