    Ahem . . . ummm . . . so back to ME!

How does one go about finding a specific pistol to hold / shoot? The shops here seem to all have limited inventory, and the only 2 ranges I know of don't have the two I want to shoot . . .

229 Elite (love the grip (ugly beavertail) but fits my had very well
226 TacOp has the same grip as the 229 Elite, so I'm wondering if it will fit the same. Standard 226 is just barely out of my comfortable grip.

Glock 17 if you like full frame.
Glock 19 if you like compact.
Glock 26 if you need subcompact.

Or if you must go 'murican, get Springfield XD version of whichever size.

If you really want something different, Rock Island Armory 1911 9mm.

So which one did you end up getting or did you go a different way?

I know I said I was looking at the LCR or 43C .22LRs, but I held an SP101 .22LR and really liked it, so I'm going to wait and save on that.

In the meantime, I obtained an M&P22.

    Re: Alright all you gun nuts . . . recommend a 9mm

I have also had problems finding a gun that fit my hands. I don't have small hands, but I don't have ham steaks that most gun people have.

My first gun was a Beretta PX4 Storm. I liked the grip and the overall feel of the gun, but I did not like the long trigger travel.

So I got rid of it, and my first keeper was a Springfield XD9 SubCompact 3" Barrel.

The XD series fits me perfect. I bought the XD9SC with the intention of it being my CCW weapon.

After I got used to the XD9, I picked up an XD40SC 3" barrel because it has more stopping power. Not that I ever hope to need it....

The SubCompacts have a short grip, but if you buy the extended magazine with the add-on grip, it is much better.

I currently have an XD45 Service 4" Barrel in jail (on the 10 day hold). It has the standard size grip, but when I was checking it out before purchase the grip felt great.

If you would like, we could meet up at a range and you can fire a couple rounds and see how each of them fit for you....

    Re: Alright all you gun nuts . . . recommend a 9mm

Hilariously, because 22LR is being hoarded to the point of never being conveniently on the shelves, which in and of itself is pretty bizarre, I ended up ditching the Single Six/Ten idea and went for a Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible instead. Of course, nailing that one down still took several phone calls but I found one in Burbank, so I'm satisfied. For all my saying a 22LR suffices, it's funny that I went with a larger caliber revolver simply because 1) the ammo is easier to find (so bizarre) and 2) with an SA gun rapid fire accuracy is less important as fire once and be done becomes a valid proposition.

    Congrats on your acquisition.

As for me, I'm ruminating on wood grips for it to the point where I photoshopped a few to see what looks good.
